Along the northern coast, some ways between Adwa and Izir, lies a dangerous stretch of coastal waters that some call the Cape of the Fatted Ghul. The mountainous cape is buffeted by strong winds, and adorned with a scattering of sharp rocks in the waters about the base. The wind and current have driven many ships to their doom.
Widow’s Harbor sits in the lee of the cape, where the winds are not as terrible, yet the sharp rocks still guard the rogues’ port against intruders. The town is notorious for its trade in goods taken from sinking ships, as well as a brisk business in outright plunder. But the true shadow that lies across the good name of Widow’s Harbor is the shadow of the watery grave. The border to the Underworld is thin about the cape, and it is widely said that the headwoman of Widow’s Harbor can call the dead to defend the town against corsairs or would-be annexers. Indeed, she seems to delight in the rumor.
